The Gas Jobs This Side Covers

Appliance connections

Cooktops, ovens, freestanding stoves, bayonet fittings for space heaters, outdoor BBQs and pool heaters, each one pressure tested and certified before it runs.

Gas lines

New runs from the meter to kitchens, laundries and outdoor living areas, plus extensions where a renovation shifts the appliance somewhere new.

Leak work

Suspected leaks traced with gas detectors, repaired, then retested. If you can smell gas right now, the gas leak page lists the safety steps to take before you ring anyone.

Gas hot water

Storage and continuous-flow units both go in through this side of the business, and the hot water hub steps through which system suits a home on the shore.

Rathmines Gas Fitting Services

Each half of the gas work has a page of its own:

Gas Appliance Installation

New cooktops, ovens, heaters and BBQ points, connected and certified, with the line run included when the appliance lands somewhere a line has never gone. The full scope sits on the gas appliance installation page.

Gas Leak Detection and Repair

The smell of gas, a hissing meter or a bill that has jumped for no reason, traced with gas detectors and fixed by a gas fitter licensed for the work. Start with the gas leak detection page if that is the fault you have.

How Is a Gas Job Priced Here?

Four things move the figure:

  • The line run A bayonet fitting on an existing branch is a smaller job than a fresh run from the meter across a yard.
  • The ground Low land near the foreshore holds water, so trench work for a buried run goes slower than the same run on higher, drier blocks.
  • The appliance A straight cooktop swap costs less than a first-ever gas point, which needs the run, the connections and the certification together.
  • After-hours work A gas fault on a weekend is charged at the weekend rate, agreed before the fitter sets out.

Why Does Lake Air Affect Gas Gear?

Outside, the salt gets in first

Brackish air off the water finds outdoor fittings before anything else. A barbecue bayonet or heater point on a deck near the shore takes the most punishment, so corrosion-resistant parts are offered in the quote for any gear that lives outdoors.

Inside, the housing eras do the talking

The fibro and weatherboard cottages came first, from the 1940s, the Crown-subdivision closes filled in through the early 1980s, and the waterfront development came through the 1990s. Each era left a different starting point for gas work.

Wet ground and reactive clay

The low foreshore blocks hold groundwater, and the reactive clay soil swells and shrinks with the seasons, so a buried gas line is laid with the right depth and bedding to cope with both.

A compliance certificate is issued with every gas job, and a copy travels with your invoice.

When We're Not the Right Call

Gas gear up to and including the meter, plus the pipe under the road, is maintained by the gas network, so faults there go to its emergency line. From the meter to the burner, pipe and appliance alike, is gas fitter work we price and repair.

Gas Questions Before You Ring

Do I need a licensed gas fitter to connect a new cooktop?

Yes. In NSW a fixed gas appliance must be connected, pressure tested and certified by a licensed gas fitter before it runs. A DIY hook-up is illegal and unsafe; our fitter makes the connection, tests each joint and hands over the compliance paperwork.

Can you add a gas point to a house that has never had gas?

If there is a gas main in your street, yes. We check supply at the meter, quote the new run to the kitchen or the living areas, and fit the appliance once you approve the figure. If no main runs past your block, you hear that from us before you plan around it.

How do I know if my gas installation was done properly?

Ask for the compliance certificate. Gas work in NSW needs one, and it records who did the job and what was tested. If a past install came with no paperwork, a gas fitter can inspect the line, test the pressures and certify anything that passes.

Do you take gas jobs out on the western shore too?

Yes. Gas fitters work in Kilaben Bay, Coal Point, Fishing Point, Balmoral and Buttaba too, and each job there is priced the same way before any work. Book it on the same number as any other job.
